Why is OSU a great place to study Geography?
The Geosciences Department at Oregon State University offers competitive advantages to career oriented potential students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. What scholarships are available?
Geoscience Department Scholarships
Scholarships for Geosciences Department undergraduate students are supported by the generosity of alumni and friends. Most scholarships are awarded to currently enrolled students during Spring Term for use during the following year. Watch for an announcement about the scholarships and pick up an application form from the Geosciences Department in Wilkinson Hall 104. Geosciences undergraduate scholarships include:

The Arthur Parenzin Undergraduate Scholarship is an for an incoming student. It is $2,000 and renewable for up to four years if a 3.00 GPA is maintained. Contact the Geography Program Director to determine if an open scholarship is available.

Christian John Hunt Scholarships for undergraduate geography and natural resources majors (application before enrollment). Multiple scholarships of varying amounts may be awarded every year to students with demonstrated commitment to studies in their major. Preference is given to those who are not otherwise eligible for merit based scholarships.

What are other amenities of studying Geography at OSU?

  • The Geosciences office staff are friendly, informed, and dedicated to helping undergraduate students.
  • In the northeast corner of the second floor of Wilkinson Hall, the Digital Earth Lab provides students a high-quality, up-to-date, attractive, and accessible computer lab for geography projects and classes. It is staffed by knowledgeable and helpful graduate students and supervised by a full-time Lab Manager.
  • Computer terminals with Internet access are available in a student lounge for undergraduates.
