(www.ardinc.com) has an immediate opening for a Staff Associate in our Agriculture and Economic Growth sector at corporate headquarters in Burlington, Vermont. This is an entry-level technical staff position and an ideal opportunity for a self-motivated individual with about 4-7 years of professional international experience who is interested in developing and pursuing a career in international consulting and business development Responsibilities This is a technical staff position offering the opportunity to work with senior international development professionals, undertake international travel, build skills, and advance an international career. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: * Provide technical assistance either for short-term international assignments or in a home office advisory capacity * Assist in all aspects of proposal preparation * Assist with recruitment and selection of technical consultants * Participate with the firm's general marketing activities and new business development * In addition, qualified candidates are expected to bring key skills and experience supporting the cross-cutting themes of: Public-Private Partnerships Grants Public Information and Awareness Institutional development and capacity building Civil Society Gender Essential Qualifications * Graduate degree in agronomy, agricultural science, agricultural extension, crop science, food security or related discipline * 4 years field experience in technical assistance programming in developing or transitioning countries required. * Excellent writing and proposal development skills are essential, including proposal writing, program design and technical approach development. * Strong knowledge of international donor projects and/or USAID funded projects highly desired. * Ability to demonstrate competence and experience in at least one other of AEG s core practice areas: Value Chain and Competitiveness - - commodity chain development and management farm and non-farm, including capacity building for chain actors and supporters Enterprise and Business Development - - factor markets (finance, land and labor); knowledge and skills in product development and marketing; personal successful business experience. Agriculture Policy and Trade - - identify and recommend production and processing solutions to constraints of value chains. * Energetic and enthusiastic collaborative team player and self starter. * Strong cross-cultural relations and inter-personal communication skills. * Comfortable working in a fast paced and sometimes intense work environment. * Availability for 30-40% international travel. * Proficiency in MS Office applications. * Speaking and reading proficiency in a foreign language, French, Arabic or Spanish highly preferred; * U.S. citizenship or a valid U.S. work permit is mandatory.
