Amanda Prewitt Award Recognizes a female sophomore or junior in Geography,
Geology or Earth Sciences who has shown an enthusiasm for earth sciences
and whom we want to encourage to pursue a career in earth sciences: Circe Verba
Jess Johnson Student Writing Award
Undergrad geology major
who has demonstrated excellence in the classroom and an aptitude for
writing: Mackenzie Keith
Samuel M. Evans, Jr. Memorial Award
Sophomore in geology demonstrating
excellence of scholarship and professional motivation during the middle
stages of his or her academic career. Samuel Evans Jr was killed while
in the Navy in Nov 1970: Della Graham
Earl L. Packard Achievement Award
Junior in geology who is deserving,
scholarly, and professionally motivated. Established by Ellen Moore as a
memorial to Dr. Packard (paleontology professor and chair of geology and
first Dean of COS): Mackenzie Keith
Award for Excellence in Geology

Christian John Hunt Award
Christian John Hunt graduate from OSU in 1972 in Geography.
He moved to U. Idaho where he completed an MS. On his trip home he was
killed in a traffic accident near Umatilla. This was founded by his
family and friends in his honor. A current student pursuing an undergrad
degree in geography: Lora Liegel and Cody Schrock
GRADUATE AWARDS
Lance Forsythe Memorial Fellowship
Awarded to graduate student from
Geology, Geography, or Marine Geology exhibiting breadth and independence
of thought in the pursuit of their education: Michele Punke
Founder's Fellowship
Master's degre students in the Geography Program are
eligible to apply for $500 researach grants after they have produced a
research proposal acceptable to their advisor. The grants are intended
to help defray the costs of projects leading to the completion of degree
requirements (theses/ research papers). Students interested in receiving
an award should submit a copy of their research proposal, along with a
completed application form signed their major professor, stating their
time frame and intended use of the funds to the Geography Program

Arthur Parenzin Fellowship
A $500 Arthur Parenzin Fellowship has been
established in memory of Arthur Parenzin. The intent of the award is to
provide students with financial assistance for preparing their research
for publication and/or presentation to professional meetings. Students
having provided their major professor a complete draft of their degree
researach product are eligible for consideration for the award: Isaac
Daniel, Kelli Larson
