Critical Thinking Paper # 2

Due May 2 in Day Class

Due April 30 in Night Class

Critical Thinking Paper # 2 is a second iteration of Critical Thinking Paper # 1.

Take the comments written by your TA on CT # 1, and use them as a basis to write an even better paper.

We are looking for even more concise writing than the first time. Clean out the dross--those extraneous words, "For my second point I'd like to add . . ." can be replaced with "furthermore." Bam! You eliminated seven words. Now you can add more information. Get with a friend and make a game out of rewriting sentences. Make your paper information dense.

We expect really high quality papers, as we spent a lot of time commenting on your writing of CT # 1.

Format: We are going to give you two options for CT Papers # 2, 3, and 4:

1. In CT # 2 (your rewrite of CT # 1), you can follow the same exact format as you did in CT #1.
Click here for Critical Thinking Guidelines

OR

2. You can follow a more "traditional" format and write the paper as one unit, not splitting out the separate Critical Thinking headings. HOWEVER, if you choose to follow this option, you MUST highlight in your paper where each of the Critical Thinking headings is covered. And it MUST be very clear. The paper graders will not search, nor interpret very much--you must clearly identify a sentence or paragraph as "Interpretation," etc. AND the "Analysis" section must occupy approximately 80% of the paper. Your "Word Count" can be just an overall word count within the same overall range as all the papers. Note this Word Count with your name, etc. at the top of the paper.

Remember that you MUST use sources as noted on the Critical Thinking Paper Guidelines. Failure to have four sources from this list will result in a score of zero on the paper. Why? Because you can't argue effectively without utilizing effective sources.

To force you to think and write concisely, we require that the "Analysis" section contain betweem 375 amd 425 words.
The maximum paper length is 550 words. This gives you 125-175 words for the other five headings (depending upon the total in "Analysis." My suggest is to use 'em all. Write a 550 word paper. The "Interpretation" section is very important, it leads into your topic.

The following information MUST appear on your paper:

1. Word count for "Analysis" = ___________. [375-425]
2. Total word count = ______________ [550 max-serious deduction for too many words]
