FINE MINERALS ON DISPLAY IN WILKINSON HALL
The Oregon State University mineral and crystal display collection has been contributed by faculty, students, and friends of the Department of Geosciences during the past three decades. It contains the Walter Lidstrom Memorial Collection, the William Kean Gem and Gem Mineral Collection, the Russell Kenaga Micromount Collection, and many samples from all over the world, donated by our alumni. It is now one of the finest mineral displays in the Pacific Northwest devoted to instruction in Earth Science. Our lighted display cases are secured by multiple electronic devices and house about 350 labeled specimens. The large size of the collection permits new displays to be presented each academic quarter for the instruction and viewing pleasure of our own students, visiting alums, townspeople, school children, and many others. During your next visit to the department, plan to spend some time with this display; it is conveniently located on the west main floor of Wilkinson Hall. New contributions to the collection are always welcome and can be arranged by contact with the Geosciences Chairperson.
